Redefining fun

I certainly have my down days, just like everyone else...but I do believe I have a little fun everyday. You can find humor in everyday events. It is how you look at the world. I may joke too often, but it sure beats going around crying all the time (which is what I would like to do sometimes...) Golly, I hope to be laughing at life for a loooong time! I AM FUN! BTW.......I had a SUPER time today at our test site---thanks guys! Hope~ The void eventually goes away. In the beginning the time drags and it seems as though life might never be the same. However, in time (if you WILL stay quit) you will discover that you can do EVERYTHING you used to AND in some ways its MORE fun! *stop shaking your head no* :p) I do understand how you feel right now. At first I could not drink a glass of wine or go out to a club. (without getting all kinds of smoke thoughts!) However, all that changed for me once I progressed in my quit. I don't miss it with my red wine anymore. The last time I went to a concert I danced like crazy and had so much fun I was dripping wet from sweat when we left! I tell you all this basically to say: Hang in there, keep the faith! It won't be like this forever. It just seems like it right now~lol Don't give up 'hope' :) All the best~ 2 My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 395 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,707 Amount Saved: $1975 Life Gained: Days: 37 Hrs: 13 Mins: 26 Seconds: 48

HS, how did we have fun before we quit smoking? Was smoking the only fun we had? Was smoking fun really or did we do it just to get our fix? I will admit that quitting smoking for me was very hard work. I felt like I had to concentrate all the time, and I couldn't allow myself a minute to relax. I know that I wasn't any fun to my husband for a while there. But in the long run, it was worth every bit of agony that I caused myself or him. (Well, he might disagree lol). When I started relaxing was when I realized that I was truly a non-smoker now. I didn't have to be so uptight all the time. I could remain vigilant, but at the same time I could take pleasure in all the benefits I was feeling. It wasn't a punishment or a death sentence. It was a LIFE sentence. When I understood and assimmilated that, then I knew I was homefree. You'll get there. Just keep at it! Hope, What was fun about trying to find a place to smoke? What was fun about the headache the next day? I understand your issue, but the social aspect for me was fun and not the actual smoking. It took some time but I changed every situation into a non-smoking one. Life will change and you will need to fill in all the time you have. Take some time and do something for yourself. Get a coffee, do a class, call a friend, write a letter :) It is all how you look at it, you will get there so let us help :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
