Is it weird that my first week wasn't really that hard?

Hopeless Smoker, I know this makes you nervous but remember that practice makes perfect. If you're worried, make up an emergency coping plan. Fill it with quotes and posts from the site, gum, candy, a list of distractions, a list of the benefits from your quit, a list of the reasons for your quit and some small rewards. Give yourself an alternative to run to when cravings strike with force. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hopless Smokeless, I ditto Missy's response. It is very important to remember that not everyones quit is horrible. I thought the same thoughts you did; "Was the big one gonna hit me when I least expect it?" I still think of that question. And to date, it has not happened. We read so much on here about the struggles people are going through with their quits. I think it is great that there are a few of us who have not had as difficult of time with our quits as some. Let us stand up and say that not all quits HAVE to be so dramatic. I like your attitude. You will be fine. Just do not let your guard down. 4my2girls My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 203 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,119 Amount Saved: $663.81 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 9 Mins: 53 Seconds: 37

Hello again Hopeless!! I'm sure things are okay for you. I just wanted to let you know that keeping up your positive attitude will keep your quit in line. Again, we are the only ones to determine how our quit is. Like I said before to Free's Post on Powerless Craves,
It all boils down to how you cope. That seperates the line between those who struggle with their quits, and those who don't.
Keep up the great quit!!! You are doing a wonderful job!! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 206 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,195 Amount Saved: $673.62 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 14 Mins: 51 Seconds: 27

You've already come a long way from those first two days! I felt exactly like you when I quit. Only difference is, I'd never quit before. I was warned by the more seasoned quitters (and rightfully so since it was so early in my quit) to stay on my toes and I did... but time passed and nothing that I considered very difficult came to pass. It's not that I didn't have the withdrawals and adjustments, because I did, but they just weren't to the extent that I'd expected or had seen so many suffer with. My most difficult battle was the depression and extra time but that all worked out in due time. I know how fortunate I am because I see so many that are fighting tooth and nail. Maybe your quit will be less difficult too ...I certainly hope so, but I'll repeat the same wise advice as those ahead of me, just always be prepared. Then, IF it does hit you from left field, you'll get right through it until it feels easy again. Your attitude and desire to be quit goes such a long way. Keep up the good work :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 599 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,997 Amount Saved: $2138.43 Life Gained: Days: 63 Hrs: 12 Mins: 23 Seconds: 5

No way to predict, Hope, but your attitude is so great, that must have something to do with it. Take it one day at a time...focus on today...let the future take care of itself.
