Anybody else cry more easily?

I've always cried at the slightest thing - adverts, films, anything so I've not noticed any real change. I am still quite high most of the time with the whole quit thing and am trying to be busy, busy or just shut down and lock everything out but today I had a really stressful phone conversation with a utilities provider person and I was so scared I was going to cry and ruin my arguement and then not be able have a cigarette to make me feel better. So, instead, when it all got too much I just excused myself from the conversation. I'll write a letter instead. Absolutely!!! Your smokescreen (buffer) is gone, so you are so much more open and vulnerable... I often refer to this quit journey as an amazing spiritual awakening... it is! I cried like a baby and any change in the wind could set it off. It evens out over time and you know feeling things is good ;) Great job on your 4+ months! HI Serenity2, I do, yes, seem more tearful, but I must say for myself, it isn't just a non smoking thing. I have noticed it more the last couple of years here & there. Am attributing it to the "Over 50" thing, for lack of a better explanation. As for quitting smoking, this quit has been so muchj different than any before it, and I haven't really had the downs (yet - knocks on wood) But from my experience with other attempts, yes very much so. I guess it will depend on the individual, and each personality. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 37 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 949 Amount Saved: $390.35 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 13 Mins: 59 Seconds: 45

It makes sense that there could be a connection between being overly emotional/weepy and quitting. As your body heals, I'm sure it affects the way all systems in your body work including hormones. Sort of like during pregnancy - I remember times I would burst into tears watching sappy commercials on TV. LOL. Maybe it's a good thing - smoking often helps us mask underlying feelings. Crying may be one of the ways you are getting out some of the buried emotions. Hang in there, just keep a box of tissues nearby! ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 167 Amount Saved: $53.04 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 6 Mins: 57 Seconds: 27

Yes, I did, particularly in the first 2 months. Probably part of smoking masking your real emotions It's good to quit and good to cry! This can be normal and will pass. Smoking has a habit of masking problems, so do check with your doctor to rule out anything medical. Make sure you are also taking some time to yourself and giving your body the rest it needs :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.

I am trying to sort out the post quit differences from other changes as I think I am heading towards being menopausal. I seem to cry a lot more easily than I ever did before. I don;t mean just tears of sadness I mean of EVERY kind! Like "awwww, isn't it cute" tears at little kittens; or "ohhhhhh, this movie is lovely" tears in the cinema (had to fight my way out fast last time to avoid everybody seeing my red eyes after a very sweet, happy movie!!!!! lolol. I never used to have ready tears, so I just wondered if anybody else does this since they quit? My advice? Buy kleenex. I sobbed my way through month one and then kept crying more easily for a whole year. Rejoice in these tears of healing.
