What a great thread! For me, the beauty of this site is the testimony of the folks who were sure they could have just one and get away with it. Me, I've had 3 slips in however nany days are on my meter; each slip showed me how easy it would be to get re-addicted. It is still so hard not to go back.... but I won't peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 194 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,748 Amount Saved: $1067 Life Gained: Days: 35 Hrs: 14 Mins: 30 Seconds: 5

Until recently, I was able to see myself returning to it down the road when I'm off the Chantix and things may get tough. ... But I recently had a new thought pop into my head : Why would I want to do that to my body and my brain after all the healing it has done? It especially takes our brains a long time to change how they produce/release dopamine after nicotine damages them. So why put yourself through that and undo all the good? Hi Laughing, I don't entertain that notion, and actually I haven't since the day I quit. Yes, I had a lot of roughage to get through, but I was determined to get through it and never look back. May we all have a smoke-free, healthy and happy future! What images and feelings come to mind when you consider that proposition? And how do those images and feelings effect your attitude toward quitting; toward remaining smoke-free? There's a passage in the Bible that says something like, "We are what we think in our hearts all day long." Does that fit here? Is that a relevent lesson for us as we continue down the road of smoking cessation?
