Hi Jody,

Cutting back like you have is still a great achievement! It is also good that your are cautious of reverting back to smoking more.

Do you feel you are ready to quit now? What do you think you need to do to be successful this time? I suggest you continue to work on this program and post. Also, do a bit of research on mindfulness and how it can help with addiction. What else can you do to support yourself?

Hi, My name is Jody and am new here. I have been smoking for more then 30 years and have been trying to quit smoking for about a month. The doctor put me on the patch but I seem to go about 3 days and relapse. I find I will become almost obsessed with the thought of smoking. I really have no support and live with 3 smokers. They do go outside to smoke but there are always cigarettes around. I will smoke around 6 to 7 cigarettes a day and try to justify it because I was a pack and a half a day smoker. I know where that will get me eventually.

I have seen the what smoking can do. One of my room mates is a heavy smoker and will actually use a inhaler before smoking. His doctor said he need to stop because he has early emphasima.(spelling?).
My father died of lung cancer in 2011. I don't want to be either one of them next.

I came to this forum for support and to crawl back on that wagon.
