This is definately the hardest thing I have ever done my entire life. Give me childbirth anytime!! I am okay so far. Put out my last one last Thursday at 10:00 pm. Haven't picked one up since, but this is really hard, no matter how well you preaper, and I had prepared for 3 weeks!!! I am deep breathing, trying to keep my mind occupied and my hands busy as much as I can, but it is still hard. Had a sobbing moment yesterday, but I allowed myself the good cry, then went for a walk and felt a little better. The cravings feel like they are CONSTANTLY there though! That's a horrible feeling. I have been eating healthy, drinking plenty of Cranberry juice and water, but it doesn't make this any easier. If I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, I'd feel better. UUUGGH! Time to have dinner. Thank you for allowing me to vent. But even after all this....I am still smoke free, so maybe there is hope for me yet! Kim 2 days, 21 hours and 12 minutes smoke-free. I have not smoked 56 cigarettes, saving $10.78!

Thank you Brent! You are an inspiration!!! I will do that...I DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN!!!! You are exactly right. It isn't so great. Patting myself on the back...hard today! This is the longest I have ever made it...so I feel this true sense of accomplishment, and a desire to keep on going! Kim 2 days 21 hours and 24 minutes smoke-free!!

Kim.....nearly three days so the physical withdrawral bit is nearly over (assuming you are a cold turkey?). Keep going....you grit your teeth, drink your juice and stay focussed on the job of clearing the poison out of your body. The nicotine is leaving and will do anything to get you to replace it. YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN is what you tell yourself again and again. Those constant craves.......time distortion is a well known factor in quitting. You time them (the craves) 3 mins maximum! And you bet there is hope for you! Bagsgirl you should feel a great sense of accomplishment because you are succeeding! Congratulations on making it through 3 of the hardest days of quitting. Keep drinking your juice, water, sucking on mints and try some fruity gum. Kick, scream, cry, punch a pillow, break some dishes, slam some doors...whatever it takes. Just don't smoke.. And when it seems you can't take it any more, just keep on going. It does get better. Read and post often. It really helps. As long as you don't lite that next cigarette you are going to make it. You are doing a great job. I KNEW you could do it!!! And look at you!!!! YOU'RE DOING IT!!! Be VERY good to yourself right now. Give yourself a HUGE reward for making it through some of the toughest days! Take a nice, long, hot bubble bath, or reward yourself with not having to do dishes tonight or something else that you'd really enjoy. Be good to yourself because you're doing something that is SO GREAT for yourself... you're worth the pampering! Just keep going! This poem was posted (I don't remember who by... sorry, whoever you are :) ) early in my quit and I just love it so much, I'm going to post it here for you. When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road your trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is queer with its twists and its turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When they might have won, had they stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow, You may succeed with another blow. Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victors cup; And he learned too late when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out The silver tint of the clouds of doubt And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far; So stick to the fight when your hardest hit, It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit! You can do this bagsgirl! Hang in there! You're doing SO great! Crave the Quit! The first three days were the very hardest for me. I sobbed in bed most of the time. Felt like i was losin my mind. So, congratulations to you for sticking with it. The worst of the physical part should be over by now, now will come the mind games, possible the blues, etc. BUT, Brent is so right - you never want to go through this again. That thought (terrifying!!!) was what kept me going many a time. Believe those that have gone before you. THis is possible. And the freedom is tryly wonderful.
