ArwensMom, When it comes to matters as such. Every person is completely different. Your best bet is to have your family physician assist you with this as for he/she knows your body/health/wellness. Hope this helps, Melanie _________________ The SSC Suppor Team

You forgot macular degeneration. Although anyone can get MD, it starts earlier in smokers. My boyfriend has it and is being treated for it. Used to be there was no treatment. A friend of mine whose mother smoked until she was 85 has MD really bad. I believe it has something to do with smoking constricting the blood vessels to the eyes. Can you imagine being 85 and quitting then?

I have very low blood pressure. As a smoker I have very low blood pressure. I have heard that smoking raises blood pressure. If that's true, then my smoking kept my blood pressure in the very low end of normal. What happens when I quit? Will it drop even further? Does anyone know any symptoms I should be on the look out for?

Arwinsmom, Even if quitting lowers your blood pressure, it's no excuse to go back to smoking! That sounds like junkie thinking right there! Please keep your quit and talk to your doctor if you're worried. No matter what, smoking is NOT better for you! Crave the Quit! Hi Arwensmom - In general, the lower your blood pressure, the better. (I'm a cardiac nurse by background) If you are not feeling lightheaded or dizzy, I would not be concerned about your pressure being too low. If you have any concerns, I'd certainly recommend having your family doctor check your blood pressure....

ArwensM, My blood pressure used to always on the low side of normal. Now after almost 11 months quit, I'm actually being treated for high blood pressure. Now, I have a lot of other factors going on besides quitting that could be messing with it. My point is...monitoring your bp is a good idea. Seeing your doc if it goes too high or too low is in order, no matter the possible cause. Keep it going...
