Hi there I too had this problem of giving up then taking a smoke and back to square one again.. I am sick of this --going over and over again of the first Hell week  CG have you been on this site before?? It seems like its the best site ever for support! Stay in touch log in often we can do it.. Rusty i agree we are like junkies but smoking has less stigma with it as it is readily sold and accepted into the society.. Christian Girl, We have a saying around here; SINTA (Smoking is not the answer) let that be you're mantra for this new quit. It can remind you that smoking didn't solve anything during that stressful time. Next, you have to figure out what you're going to do instead during your next stressful event. As much as we'd all like to have stress free lives, it's not realistic. Maybe for you, keeping a journal, posting here and some sort of physical activity would be the answer? It can be anything, whatever works best for you. You can do this! We will all help you get and stay quit! So put down the cigarette! This CRAZY addiction to nicotine is something I really want to over come and yet I find myself once again, back at square one!!! I go on the 23rd of this month to be tested out for asthma, yet I still ignore all the bad that smoking can do to oneself and light up again. I really need the help to over come this addiction once and for all. I'm afraid that more is wrong with me physically than I need to know from smoking and yet I continue to hurt myself. HELP!!! BTW...I started smoking again this time after a 150 day quit because I thought it would help out the stress I was under. Did it help...I really think it did for the first few hours only!!!! Now I'm hooked again. Sad in Ontario Canada and wanting so bad for help to quit permanently. Christian Girl

Hi CG, it really is insidious, this addiction business. Think of junkies getting a fix -- that's us! The only way to overcome it is to not smoke under any circumstances -- there is no craving so strong that it will kill you. So if you really want to quit, you have to just hang in there and do it! And it can be done. Work the program tools over on the left, become active on this site, and above all, don't believe any junkie lies!
