I'm not sure if this is a symptom or not, but my face has itched all day, it is driving me nuts. It's not just in one place but all over. I don't feel like I have a rash, and there is no visible signs of a rash or swelling. I'm thinking this is too coincidental to not be a sign of recovery.

Ness, Increase in circulation may be the culprit. Should your symptoms persist or worsen, see your doctor ASAP. Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

Kenoqueen, funny you say this. I also get the odd blotchy / patchy rash on my face or neck that i attribute to 'sun' or 'wind burn'. The funy thing is i never got this before (when i was a smoker). For some reason as an non-smoker my skin has become more succeptable to sun & wind burn. as a smoker my skin was quite hardy & i treated my face like 'old leather'...not anymore. I'm only guessing when i say that as smokers - the nicotine in our system formed a 'sludge' barrier from the elements. :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 652 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 16,300 Amount Saved: $4238 Life Gained: Days: 93 Hrs: 10 Mins: 10 Seconds: 25

The skin on my face and scalp got very dry and itchy when I quit. I actually had scaly patches on my face. This dryness lasted from about 2 months till about 4 months. I think drinking lots and lots of water helped more than the cream from the dermatologist! good luck ness...hopefully it's just a today thing for you! Hi Kenoqueen... Are you using Zyban at all? I found this article: Bupropion, a prescription antidepressant marketed as Zyban, was approved by the FDA in 1997 to treat nicotine addiction. This drug can help to reduce nicotine withdrawal symptoms and the urge to smoke. Some common side effects of bupropion are dry mouth, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, and skin rash. My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 141 Amount Saved: 13.2 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 5 Mins: 56 Seconds: 9

Hi....I am 2 weeks quit today (yaay me!)and I have an really weird problem. My face has been itching for a couple of days now, but when I got out of the shower ths morning, I noticed that my face was covered with a terrible rash! It looks as though I have a really bad wind burn.....it is so bad that it is actually swelling my face where the red rash is. I was wondering if it could be related at all to the nicotine gEting out of my system (I smoked for 40 years) and maybe this is a result of no nicotine? Has anyone else ever experienced any skin problems with their quits? I have wracked my brain (What's left of it)and come up with no reason as to why this appeared on my face this morning (no new foods, soaps, etc.) Any help is appreciated!! No ex-roller....I'm not using anything. I looked on the net for a connection with this rash and nicotine, and found just what you did about the Zyban. Thanks so much for answering! I think if it is worse tomorrow, I will call the Dr. just to be sure. My skin has not been smoke-free for soooo long, it's probably going into shock..lol!! Thanks again..........ONE DAY AT A TIME My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 295 Amount Saved: $49 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 0 Mins: 49 Seconds: 5

It may or may not be related to the quit. A lot of people get mouth sores when they quit, so you never know. I would definitely get with the doctor and meanwhile use something soothing. Let us know what you find out. Rusty

Keno, Everyone's quit will be different! If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. Its possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable.
