Hi Sophie :) I spent day 2 and 3 feeling clammy, sweaty, feverish and downright awful. Its day 5 for me and im still getting it on and off but no where near as severe as day 2 & 3. My body really was craving the next hit. You're doing so well. :) Keep going it gets better My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 112 Amount Saved: $40.8 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 9 Mins: 29 Seconds: 32

I don't know if I am actually sick...or if it's the withdrawal from nicotine..but I had to stay home from work yesterday because of it! I had a bad fever and just felt really tired and couldn't stop sweating. I probably have the flu. But not smoking was easy because I felt so bad ;) I know that it will probably get harder, but right now I'm on Day 2 and I really haven't had an urge to smoke yet. Maybe its good that I am sick and don't even want to smoke right now...it might make the rest of the quitting process easier. Smoke with the flu? phhht...I can top that 1 hour and 53 minutes after I gave birth to my first child I was downstairs smoking a cigarette! She was still getting a bath and being looked over while I was in the elevator on my way for a smoke. How pathetic is that? I look back at moments like that and I am so disgusted in myself. Wishing you the best of luck sophie :) You can do it :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: -17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Sounds like the flu to me. When I quit I experienced a headache, some confusion and a bit anxious - but that was about it. My girlfriend thinks the best time to quit is when you are sick. The nicotine is suppose to leave your body in 72 hours if you are going cold turkey. I was such an addict, I'd smoke even with the flu. Get some rest and hang in there. Navigator. sophie, I was sick my first week (not from Quitting-it was as flu thing)... As for me, this may be a blessing (I actually missed most of Hell week:) - stay strong and sleep as much as possible as sleeping is so very healing... Stay close and let us know how you're doing. It is possible that it made you sick by quitting, but the important thing is that you keep your quit!! It will pass, and your body will heal itself. You know, smoking helps your body allow diseases to flourish by preventing it from doing its job and flushing them out. Once your body cleanses itself from the effects of smoking, your immune system will be much stronger. If theses symptoms persist too long though, you should see a doctor :) I quit smoking on July 6, 2006 at 6:00pm. It has been 1 week, 16 hours, 14 minutes, and 44 seconds since I quit. Had I not quit smoking, I would have: * Smoked 154 cigarettes (That's like smoking a 51 foot long cigarette) * Spent $32.86 on cigarettes * Inhaled 1.54 grams of tar * Inhaled 122 mg of nicotine (That's like doing 2,303 hits of nicotine) * Inhaled 1.69 grams of carbon monoxide * Taken an additional 22 hours, 43 minutes, and 5 seconds off my life

Sophie, Quitting smoking can indeed alter your immune system. If your symptoms persist then please contact your doctor. We can not leave today without congratulating you on quitting smoking. When you feel better we will talk about celebrating and creating a reward system :). Get well soon! Melanie and The SSC Support Team
