Can someone describe how much lung damage a person has after smoking for twenty to thirty years? And when a persong does quit smoking does some or all of the damage lung get repaired? I heard somewhere that your risk of getting lung cancer is like that of a non-smoker after five years of quit, is this right?

We can not speak for everyone, as all quits are different. The amount smoked and the intensity and product can also have an effect. Damage done can be stopped and may or may not cause problems down the road.
