What makes you Sad ~

Hi Shaila - I love all the fun and I love to hear all the inspirational stories. I do happy...but I do sad too. (sometimes I do them at the same time) I remember when my older nephew were graduating from high school and heading off to university. I was so proud and happy and I couldn't figure out why I was melancholy the next day....But I could remember when they were babies, cute little toddlers and now they were handsome, independent men starting new lives and I knew I wouldn't see them as often. I am still so proud of all these kids (young adults..some of them now) and I love to watch them achieve their goals but I don't think there's anything wrong with feeling a little sad because I'm going to miss them. Honestly, quitting smoking can make me feel sad because it has been such a crutch (however - it hasn't been a friend and I WON'T be sad when it's permanently out of my system and out of my mind) I guess I can be proud of my own achievements and independence then! I am starting a new thread about what makes you sad. 1. Sadness is never having a chance to do what I would like to do! 2. Always making the sacrifices but never reaping any rewards for me! please share your thoughts with me as sometimes we are all sad for one reason or another x My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 586 Amount Saved: 159.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 0 Mins: 14 Seconds: 7

Phil, this is for some of us who are having sad moments and would like to share that. I am sad at the moment for other reasons not really smoke related at all. xx My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 588 Amount Saved: 159.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 0 Mins: 21 Seconds: 12

Shaila, Sadness is normal and my heart goes out to you. Take the time you need to feel sad, vent about it and let us help you find ways to fix it. The only advice I can give you regarding some of the causes for your current sadness is to make it clear to those around you that you need to keep up with your rewards. Make your rewards some of those things you'd like to do. Keep in mind that sadness can be brought on by withdrawal symptoms and they should get less and less with every smoke free day. You have to take that time for yourself. You're quitting and it can be very hard. Those rewards keep you motivated and encourage you to keep going. They also make you happy and lift your mood. Feel better soon. Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

Shalia, You sound like me early in my quit. I was so sad. Where you are now I called the 30 day pit. Don't fall into it. It sucks and it is hard to climb out of! Come on.... chin up. Don't be sad. Life is GREAT! You have 29 days of smokefree life! How awesome is that? You have gained two days of life on your quit meter! Be proud! It is reward time. Do something great for yourself. Don't travel that sad, sad road. It isn't any fun. Remember that what you think is what you are. Think happy thoughts, not sad. You are an awesome quitter! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 441 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,827 Amount Saved: $1543.5 Life Gained: Days: 38 Hrs: 21 Mins: 27 Seconds: 58
