Bear, Thanks for this post. Those figures are sadly true. The good new is that people who have joined this support group and other online programs similar to it (although there are none quite as good ;) )have a 10 - 12% success right - and that's a very conservative number too. So if you have friends, or know people who are trying to quit, increase their chances of success and sent them our way! Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator

Thats a Big 10\4 Penitent. :) That figure of 7% came from some research group in the U.S.A. Kev. That's one top post Bear! 7% goes to show why it is one of the strongest addictive drugs on the planet. I'm curious though, what are they basing that figure on? When do you 'make it'? This is a down and dirty battle and it do'snt matter what theory you subscribe to you,you are addicted to nicotine period and the sooner you accept that fact the sooner you can recover from it. There is at this point in time no cure for addiction ,no magic pill just your blind determination to beat it. It is a lifelong commitment and if you survive you become a member of an elite group the 7% er's thats the percentage of people that make it out of all the people that decide to quit smoking. But as you can see it is in fact completly doable as displayed by the membership here. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 296 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,328 Amount Saved: $2,960.00 Life Gained: Days: 72 Hrs: 0 Mins: 3 Seconds: 46
