Myth Or Fact?

That is SO the case with me, and it's taken me three major quits to figure it out.  When I smoke after a long period of not smoking, I can literally feel my blood pressure rise; it's the creepiest feeling in the world!  I can also feel myself go from a pretty decent human being to a reptile in less than 2 minutes.  I can also literally feel the nasty stuff from cigarettes coating my throat and making me nauseous.

It is the most stressful thing I can imagine, and yet whatever is left of the addiction in our brains continues to try and convince us that it's what we need.

I don't hate myself any more for slipping, but I sure hate the results of those slips.  The worst!

My Milage:

My Quit Date: 2/10/2009
Smoke-Free Days: 8
Cigarettes Not Smoked: 400
Amount Saved: $90.00
Life Gained:

Myth: I’ve got a really stressful life and smoking helps me to relax.

Fact: Smoking, in fact does the opposite. Smoking increases the stress level of the body because it raises the blood pressure and heart rate which is why you feel ‘happy’ after a cigarette. Not too mention, just knowing that you have to get up and go outside every hour for a cigarette is pretty stressful in itself. What happens on days when you are facing a long plan ride or a meeting?  Millions of people have learned how to reduce stress without turning to a cigarette. What are some of things that you find helpful to reduce your stress?
