What would you do?

I would have a glass of wine. Just because someone else is smoking, it doesn't mean I have to...

I would ask her to smoke outside.

(I've had a roommate who smokes through my entire quitting process. He smokes outside, as we both always did. The difference is that I no longer go out there to smoke, and I'm not really affected when he does.)

I can't imagine my husband ever doing that to me, but I think I'd turn around and go back out the door and take myself out to supper.

That's just nasty!!! Seriously? I would manufacture some "urgent" excuse to leave the house and go workout at the gym or indulge myself in a decadent dessert at the local cafe, or both. First though I would call my husband aside and enlist his support in my scheme and I wouldn't come home intil the coast is clear.  Personally, after a lousy day I couldn't imagine myself remaining in a situation where someone around me would be chainsmoking.

You’re two weeks quit and very agitated. You’ve just finished work and you are looking forward to going home to relax with your spouse. You get through horrible traffic and do your best to ignore your neighbour’s dog barking at you as you enter your house...

Surprise! Your mother-in-law is over for dinner. The worst part, she is a chain smoker.

What do you do? How do you cope?
